Antje Koens was my grandmother who died when I was five years old. She lived with us and taught me to read and knit. When she died, neighbours looked after me during her funeral. I knew that when I could hear the church bells the procession was on its way to the church yard.

I swear I could see Oma going up to heaven leaning back on a cloud in her best dress, as portrayed in panel.

Panel materials: Faux fur, silk velvet, paper, photograph, wool thread on blue cotton. I bought the faux fur.
