Alma Marshall [born Wescombe] was widowed and left to run a farm and raise two daughters. Although she made her living in what was then a man’s world she just got on with things, never drawing attention to herself. For 60 years she ran the farm – battling rabbits, floods, depression, and the dry weather in North Otago.
