Clara Lethbridge was born in 1852 in New Plymouth. She married her cousin Frank Lethbridge, a prospective member of Parliament, in 1879.
In 1893 she posted a notice in the Feilding Star calling a meeting of women to help assist her husband in running for Parliament. He would then support women’s suffrage. He lost the election that time unfortunately but was elected in 1896.
Clara and her husband had three daughters. She was a homemaker until her death in 1933 in Feilding.
Panel materials: Fabrics, thread, beads, and lace I already had in my stash, except for the narrow purple ribbon framing the photo, which I purchased especially.
