Relationship to maker: Great-grandfather’s first wife.

Mary Ann Morris was born in the Wairarapa in 1869 and married Edward Pragnell in Masterton in 1889. She had six children.

Mary Ann died in 1902 aged 33 after complications following an operation.

Panel materials: The fabric with the houses on was from a skirt I made and wore for many years. The floral fabric was remnants from a patchwork quilt I made. The white fabric Mary Ann’s name is embroidered on is a remnant from my daughter’s first communion dress. The text, pencil, maize, and purple fabrics were purchased.
