I am honouring my great-aunt Alice. The Pavitt family that I am descended from came out to New Zealand from England in 1850 on the Monarch Ship and settled in Robinsons Bay, Akaroa. There were 11 children, including my great great-grandfather Edward. Alice, who was born in 1865 is his daughter. 

Alice died in 1961 at aged 96. The house depicted on the panel is the one that the Pavitt family built in Robinsons Bay in the first few years after they landed: it still stands there today. It has been restored and is held in trust for the family to use. The picture is a photo of an original painting of the house by Nancy Tichborne who is also descended from one of the 11 children.
