Esther Singleton was born in 1848 and lived on Gladstone Terrace as noted on the petition. This was formerly named Baker’s Lane and then renamed Balfour Terrace in 1909. 

Esther died on the 9th December 1924, aged 76. She had been married to Joshua Singleton who died in 1919, aged 65. They are buried at Sydenham Cemetery with five others who must have been related, including ‘Twin Children Singleton’ who died 2nd August, 1925.
