Mary Goddard was born in England in 1831 and married James Lamb when aged 17. Shortly after, they left England bound first for Australia, then to New Zealand where they farmed at Matakana in northern New Zealand, about 15 minutes drive from my home. 

They later moved to Christchurch with their 12 children. Here Mary and James established a funeral business in 1872, J Lamb & Son, which is still operating in 2019. Mary died in 1898.

Panel materials: Everything from fabric stash. The background is bed linen from a local company and I dyed it using hair dye. The information panels and photo were printed onto silk fabric on my inkjet printer.
