Mini (Wilhelmina) was born in 1870 at the family home of Ivybank, Otago Peninsula. She was the sixth child, and third daughter of Wilhelmina Brown (nee Glendinning) and Walter Riddell.
They emigrated to New Zealand from Eskdalemuir, Dumfries, Scotland in 1862 on the ship “Grasmere”. Her father was active in raising the money to build the local school and the Church.
Mini married in 1900 and had six children. She died in 1952, and was remembered as a gentle, sweet-faced lady who had an interest in music and the arts.
