After moving to New Zealand, she married James Millar Bryce in Dunedin in 1863. Janet and James had eight children: three daughters and five sons. Janet died in 1926, aged 91, in Oamaru.
Jane was the oldest child of Janet and James. She was born in 1864 in Fairfax, Tokamairiro (Milton). She married Robert Jackson in 1897 in Milton; at the time her occupation was listed as ‘domestic duties’. Jane and Robert had two daughters and two sons, and Jane died in 1953, aged 89, in Oamaru.
Panel materials: Cotton, linen and calico. A recycled embroidered linen doily was used for the top and bottom panels. The header of the petition and the 2 signatures were printed onto calico, which was edged with grosgrain ribbon. Silk thread was used to embroider the signatures and to create the 46 hearts.
